KIDAPAWAN 21 MARCH 2024 – In celebration of the 2024 National Women’s Month, the Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Office in Kidapawan proudly hosted a series of special events throughout March 2024, showcasing their unwavering commitment to honoring and empowering women.

To welcome the month-long celebration, on 01 March 2024, the personnel of CO Kidapawan observed #PurpleFridays by wearing their finest shades of purple. Additionally, they joined the Musika ng Kababaihan Fridays #MNKFridays initiative by sharing songs from the MusikJuana SongWriting Contest, all written by female artists. Moreover, during their flag-lowering ceremony, they proudly featured the All-Women Cast Lupang Hinirang Video, highlighting the remarkable contributions of women in Filipino society.

On 09 March 2024, CO Kidapawan opened a courtesy lane for women and their companions applying for passports, while also hosting a kick-off program to mark the significance of the occasion. During the kick-off program, Head of the Consular Office, Nadjefah B. Acampong-Mangondaya highlighted women’s achievements and empowerment, while addressing gender equality issues and challenges as the role of women continues to expand in today’s world.

OIC of PAO Provincial District Office Atty. Ester E. Vega, as guest speaker, delivered an inspirational message that emphasized the importance of empowerment and celebrating the achievements of women. As tokens of appreciation, a certificate of recognition, a Maranao brass lei, and freshwater pearl long necklace token were presented to Atty. Ester E. Vega by HCO Mangondaya.

The program concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Sumaira B. Akmad, emphasizing the significance of the day’s celebration. Serving as emcees were Tim Faith F. Simpliciano, Andrhea Allen O. Cacho, and Dianne M. Angeles.

Brochures containing relevant information were distributed to deepen participants’ understanding of women’s rights. To add a festive touch to the celebrations, CO Kidapawan prepared a delightful array of purple-themed food, including ube cake, purple rice cake, purple biscuits, marshmallows, candies and grape juice. Additionally, passport applicants, along with the guest speaker, were invited to vote for the most creatively decorated workstations, fostering a sense of community engagement and appreciation for creativity.
