13 June 2017 — On June 04, Friends of One Vision, an informal organization of Filipino-Canadians, organized the Philippine Night at the Races to raise funds for Cornerstone, a charity organization which provides shelter to homeless women in downtown Ottawa. Led by Ms. Betty Obas, the Friends of One Vision selected June for this activity to commemorate the 119th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine independence.

The event took place at the Rideau Carleton Raceway in the Gloucester district of Ottawa and raised C$3,000. Participants enjoyed the Filipino buffet, parade of Filipiniana costumes, horse races, and an evening of dance and performances. END
