22 December 2017 MOSCOW — Philippine coco flour and coco sugar are now in fifty points of sale in Moscow and doing very well according to Philippine Ambassador to Russia Carlos D. Sorreta. The Ambassador was at one of Moscow’s top retail establishments on December 11, the Tsvetnoi Central Market, where Philippine coco flour and sugar are sold. He was with Ms. Lena Kolbasova, CEO of MyNewFoods Company (mynewfood.ru), the Russian importer.

“Our coconut products have received a warm welcome here in Moscow and are now available at fifty points of sale. Hopefully soon they will be in other parts of Russia as well.  We will continue to work with our Russian partners to bring these healthy products to the Russian market,” Ambassador Sorreta said.

MyNewFoods Company is aggressively marketing these products through different media and have celebrity endorsers.  The company also has instructional videos on the many uses for coco flour and sugar on its social media platforms (coconut sugar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRWzUgp_1Vo&t=308s; coconut flour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUmeP85mg7k) and has spots on cable television channels like “The First Vegetarian” channel.

The introduction of Philippine coco flour and sugar into the Russian market was a result of the efforts of the Philippine Embassy, particularly its “Philippine Street Fair” last year at the Old Arbat, the oldest street in Moscow and among the busiest in terms of pedestrian traffic.

The street fair featured Philippine tourist spots, art, music, dance, food and products.  Among products showcased were Philippine coconut flour and sugar.  For information on the street fair, please see:
