ASEAN Young Diplomats and Russian Counterparts Agree to Increase Interaction

02 August 2017 MOSCOW — Young diplomats from the Embassies of the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) met with members of the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on July 26 at the MFA in Moscow.
The meeting was part of the ongoing cooperation between the ASEAN Moscow Committee Working Group and the MFA’s Council of Young Diplomats to find ways of expanding interaction between junior diplomats of the 10-member group and Russia. H.E. Alexander Ivanov, Russia’s Ambassador-at-large for Asia-Pacific Affairs opened the meeting by remarking, “Personal connections are very important in our profession so it is an excellent idea to start networking with one another at the early stage of your careers.”
During the meeting, the attendees agreed to continue exchanges and to meet regularly in formal and informal gatherings.
The Council of Young Diplomats of the MFA is a club of Russian diplomats aged 35 and below with a rank of First Secretary or lower.
