20 November 2013 – Moved by the tragic loss of lives and tremendous sufferings caused by the devastating typhoon Yolanda in the Central part of the Philippines, the Iranian Red Crescent Society’s (IRCS’) seven-member team arrived in Manila on November 18 to contribute to the international community’s efforts to assist the disaster’s victims.
The team will render medical and health services, for a month, in affected communities in the Visayas.
The IRCS medical and health team is headed by Dr. Mahmoud Mozafar, Head of IRCS Relief and Rescue Organization. Its members include, Dr. Shahab Abdolahifar, Mr. Sarem Rezaei, Mr. Ramin Kohankhaki, Mr. Davood Baloochi, Mr. Kazem Falahidoust and Mr. Mahdi Najafpour.
The Philippine Embassy in Tehran led by Ambassador Eduardo Martin R. Meñez, on behalf of the Philippine Government, has conveyed to the IRCS its profound gratitude and appreciation for voluntarily extending humanitarian assistance to Filipinos during this difficult time. END
