DFA Usec Abadilla 1

06 March 2017 ABU DHABI – Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Affairs Ariel Y. Abadilla met with his counterpart Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs Ahmed Alham Al Dhaheri at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Abu Dhabi on February 26 to discuss consular cooperation between the Philippines and the U.A.E.

During the meeting, Undersecretary Abadilla was briefed about the different consular-related offices in the UAE as well as various initiatives the UAE has undertaken in providing consular services to its clients, including the expatriate community.

The two sides discussed the importance of establishing a Joint Consular Committee that is deemed to be beneficial to the citizens of the Philippines and the UAE, and committed to finalizing the agreement in a timely manner.

Undersecretary Abadilla also discussed the ongoing overseas voting registration and the importance of this exercise for the Filipino expatriate community in the UAE.

Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Constancio R. Vingno, Jr., and Third Secretary and Vice Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil joined Undersecretary Abadilla during the meeting. END
