PH Consulate General in Jeddah Partners with Philippine Professional Organization in Coastal Cleanup Drive

Philippine Consul General Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian highlights the importance of proper waste management to protect the ocean and the marine environment.

JEDDAH 21 September  2023 – Philippine Consul General Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian, along with a contingent from the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddahl, participated in a coastal cleanup drive of Buhairat Beach spearheaded by the Philippine Professionals Organization – Western Region of Saudi Arabia (PPO-WRSA).

In his message during the cleanup drive, Consul General Auxilian congratulated PPO-WRSA for organizing the event at Buhairat Beach. He said that the event is an expression of solidarity of the Filipino community in Jeddah and the Western Region to our compatriots back home in the Philippines, in commemoration of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month 2023 (MANAMo) this month of September. He also emphasized the importance of the marine environment and biodiversity, and encouraged everyone to properly dispose of their plastic waste as an important contribution to protecting our maritime environment.

Collected along the beach were plastic caps, disposed bottles, straws, juice boxes, and plastic bags, among others.

The Philippine Professionals Organization in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia (PPO-WRSA), an umbrella of organizations of the different associations of licensed professionals in the Western Region, which includes teachers, CPAs, nurses, dentists, engineers, and others, is headed by Engr. Bernardo M. Allayban. END
