AUTHENTICATIONSummer Russian Language Class by Filipino Students Commences

11 July 2017 MOSCOW – As their way of giving back and sharing what they have learned in their respective universities in Moscow, Filipino students, Mr. Arnel Caburnay Tero and Ms. Shyatesa Ceprado Razo, are conducting free Russian language lessons to interested Filipinos in Moscow during the summer weekends, from July to August 2017.
Mr. Tero encouraged active participation during writing and reading activities, emphasizing its importance in quickly learning Russian. On the opening weekend of the summer language class, the student-teachers taught the basics: from writing in Cyrillic script, to pronouncing Russian vowels and consonants properly, to counting in Russian.
“I am pleased with the initiative and spirit of volunteerism taken up by Mr., Tero and Ms. Razo,” said Philippine Ambassador to Russia Carlos D. Sorreta. “We are very supportive of this project and wish the students success in learning Russian.”
The classes held at the Embassy library commenced on 8 July. Ms. Razo teaches during Saturdays while Mr. Tero, during Sundays. Some 20 Filipinos attended the opening weekend.
Mr. Tero is currently a student of Philology at the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute while Ms. Razo is an incoming PhD student at the People’s Friendship University of Russia (RUDN). Another Filipino student from RUDN, Ms. Farrah Marguirette Espejo, will also be co-teaching the Sunday class.
