14 March 2016 - The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco conducted a consular outreach mission from March 05 to 06 at the Northwest Health Foundationin Portland, Oregon.
The nine-person Consular Mission, headed by Vice Consul Carlyn Monastrial, was held in coordination with the Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce Association, the Fil-Am Association of Vancouver and other Filipino-American communities in Oregon and Washington.
Social Security System representative Ms. Maritess Marin was also present to offer services to the Filipino Community.
The Consular Outreach team was able to process two hundred sixty-eight (268) passport renewals, one (1) extension and one (1) travel document. Fifty-four (54) citizenship reacquisition petitions were processed, including nine (9) dependents. Under notarials, nineteen (19) acknowledgements were issued, thirty-seven (37) authentications, and ten (10) affidavits. Sixteen (16) reports of birth and twenty-one (21) reports of marriage were also processed.
Oregon is home to a growing community of 29,000 Filipino-Americans, while Washington has about 137,000 Filipinos.
