28 February 2017 DUBAI, UAE — The Philippines and six other countries clinched the Best Country Pavilion Award during the Fashunity 2017 Exhibition organized by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) at the Zayed Bin Mohammed Family Gathering, Khawanij, Dubai from February 23-25.
The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates showcased the Philippine national attire, and indigenous arts and crafts during the said event.
Dr. Omar Al Khatib, Assistant Director, IACAD, graced the opening of the event together with the Consuls General and Ambassadors in the UAE. Twenty-two (22) countries: Indonesia, Philippines, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela, UAE, Mexico, Peru, Ukraine, Pakistan, Ecuador, India, Kyrgyzstan, China, Spain, Ethiopia, England, and Uruguay participated in the event.
Fashunity 2017 with the theme “Recapturing the Past”, “Building the Present” and “Glimpsing the Future of UAE” aimed to raise cultural awareness and foster understanding and respect among differing cultures. END
