05 May 2017 MOSCOW – More than 1,000 Filipinos availed of services from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Social Security Service (SSS) from April 21 to 24 as the Philippine Embassy in Moscow continue to bring government services closer to Filipinos in Russia.
OWWA, represented by Ms. Connie Marquez from the agency’s London office, processed a total of 785 transactions including 624 membership registrations. Meanwhile, Mr. Danny Calape of SSS-Riyadh and collecting partner Mr. Vincent Otieco of Metrobank UK reported that a total of 405 clients were served with 565 separate transactions.
The Embassy organizes the event in cooperation with OWWA and SSS biennially to give Filipinos in Russia access to much-needed services. Aside from receiving payments for memberships, OWWA and SSS also gave presentations on the different benefits and programs targeted towards OFWs.
Ambassador Sorreta said, “The Embassy is always pleased to organize or support any activity that gives Russia-based OFWs access to coverage, benefits and financial facilities that they actually use.”
The Embassy also took the opportunity to conduct Overseas Voter Registration during the weekend which lead to 147 registrations.
