22 June 2017 MOSCOW – The Philippine Embassy organized a dialogue between the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) delegation and representatives of the Filipino community in Moscow on June 17.
Representatives from eight Filipino organizations engaged the visiting officials, sharing their life experiences as migrant workers in Russia.
Col. Freddie T. Dela Cruz from the Philippine Army gave an informal briefing on the security situation in Marawi City. He assured the Filipino community that the government is making good progress in the fight against the Maute group.
The NDCP delegation likewise updated participants on recent socio-economic developments in the country.
“The Embassy is glad to have facilitated direct engagement between the Filipino community in Moscow and our visiting government officials. I am confident that the insights obtained from the discussions will be put to good use in crafting policies and projects that will promote the welfare of our kababayans in Russia and in other parts of the globe,” Philippine Ambassador to the Russian Federation Carlos D. Sorreta said.
The GSDS program in Moscow and St. Petersburg includes briefings by Russian government agencies and academic institutions, including the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Economic Development, Moscow State University’s Institute of Asian and African Studies, ASEAN Center at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, and St. Petersburg State University. It also has a cultural dimension such as the visit to the State Oriental Museum arranged by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
The NDCP delegation will be in Russia until June 22.
