PH Participates in Russia’s Biggest Aviation and Space Exhibition

The Philippine Embassy’s Third Secretary and Vice Consul Luningning G. Camoying at the 2017 International Aviation and Space Exhibition “MAKS” on July 22 in Zhukovsky airfield. Behind her is the 4th generation Mikoyan MiG-35 lightweight fighter jet which was launched in January 2017. It is manufactured by the Mikoyan Aircraft Corporation.

26 July 2017 MOSCOW – The Philippines, through the Philippine Embassy in Moscow, Russia participated in the 13th International Aviation and Space Salon (Russian acronym, ‘MAKS’) at Zhukovsky airfield from July 18-23.

The Embassy’s Political and Military Affairs Officer, Third Secretary and Vice Consul Luningning G. Camoying represented the Philippines during the event.

“As the Philippines starts to cooperate with Russia in the military-technical sphere, it is of course important that we study and learn more about Russian technologies and its military-industrial complex. MAKS and other defense-related exhibitions are excellent opportunities for this”, Vice Consul Camoying noted.

MAKS is a biennial salon showcasing the latest and greatest achievements ofRussia’saviation and space industry. These included state-of-the art products manufactured by the United Aircraft Corporation, Russian Helicopters, and Irkut Corporation, among many other Russian defense companies.

This year 173 foreign companiesalso participated as exhibitors coming from from Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, the USA and other members of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Aside from actual flight demonstrations, MAKS featured roundtable discussions and scientific conferences organized by the State Scientific Center of Russia – the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute.

More than 452,000 visitors trooped to the Zukhovsky airfield during the six-day salon.
